new brunswick, nova scotia, pei
quebec city

now that we are home, we still want to use the van when we can so we can pretend that we still have freedom, so we did an east coast canada road trip, which we have always wanted to do. first stop, quebec city. very old, very european, very french, but in a distinct way from gatineau or montreal. quebec city is the nation of quebec's capital, so people here are a lot more conservatively dressed than montreal, and more refined than our local rural gatineau.

gotta run the puppy

chateau frontenac

very tight, old, european streets that are not at all designed for a 19 foot van

miramichi, new brunswick

swung by miramichi on our way to visit eric and yolanda and see their farm, great to catch up and meet their 4 cats and 6 chickens.

got drunk in the river, excellent time

went to check our kouchibouguac national park, one of canada's less famous national parks

fireflies in eric's backyard
halifax, nova scotia

swung by halifax to visit megan and marley, check out signal hill, point pleasant park, and most importantly: surfing at lawrencetown beach.

lawrencetown is actually very sick, maybe sicker than tofino, in that it has a beach break, a reef break a-frame (for both goofys and regulars) and a sick point break. and no crowds. but the water is very cold, like ice cream headache when you fall in cold.

peggy's cove, lunenberg
mandatory east coast tourist stops, pretty cool but also kind of disneyland

the bluenose, like the dime

got very lucky to get this photo of peggy's cove with nobody in it, mostly because it was torrentially downpouring

lunenberg skyline
cabot trail, nova scotia

meat cove
off the coast of nova scotia is an island called cape breton. running around the coast of the island is a ring road called the cabot trail, which is one of the most beautiful parts of canada. wildflowers, dramatic coastlines, lovely people, lighthouses, very cool.

your lupins or your life

silly girl, dogs cant drive

lobster roll

meat cove is probably the highlight of the loop

prince edward island
we decided to take the ferry over to pei from cape breton, which was cool, spent a couple days exploring the red sand beaches and national parks.

had to stop in new glasgow to get a lobster dinner, the claw was a big as amy's hand

lovely place
bay of fundy
one last stop on our way home at the bay of fundy, hopewell rocks, home of the highest tide in the world

right before heading home i noticed our tires are worn down right to the threads, we had to stop in moncton on our way home to get some new tires - turns out having high quality, high weight rated tires really improves the van's handling and road noise, we should have down this a long time ago.

and that's it! back to work i guess...
